 St. Monica's Guild

Much of what is known about St. Monica comes from the writings of her son, St. Augustine of Hippo, who was also the cause of much of her grief.  She is honored as ta special patroness of married women and as an example of Christian motherhood.  In the Episcopal Church the celebration for St. Monica is May 4th.

From the beginning the purpose of St. Monica's Guild has been and continues to be spiritual growth and to nurture the needs of the Parish as well as provide service to the community.  Recently, guild members have provided financial support for Youth Ministries, purchased new belts for some of the vestments, established the rose on the Altar program for new Advent babies and grand babies, conduct an annual sweatshirt drive each December for Grace Mission, help to restock the hygiene closet at Grace Mission, deliver flowers to our shut-ins, and try to actively support functions of Advent Church and it's Parish Day School.

St. Monica's meets September through May on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

St. Monica's Guild Features Grace Mission

On Tuesday, March 8, 2010, Elizabeth Crowe and Deacon Jeanie Byars, both very involved with the ministry at Grace Mission, were the featured speakers for this month's meeting.  They presented a DVD that perfectly highlighted the important work they do with children and adults in this unique setting.

Hostesses were Millie Kaempfer and Anne Core Michaels.

St. Monica's Guild Holiday Party 2009

As an ongoing fundraiser, St. Monica's offers packets of St. Clement's note paper.  This is a great gift and also quite useful to have on hand for your personal use when you need to drop a note to a sick friend, or send a word of cheer, just because, or to say thanks.

Most packages are printed in black ink on ecru stock – 10 notes and envelopes for $6.00.  There are also a few packs at $10.00 that have been water-colored in by our own Anne Core Michaels.
